State rules
- Immunizations: set by the state health department — Arizona law A.R.S. §15-872 — school immunization proof
- Kindergarten age: A child must turn 5 before September 1 to enter kindergarten; the governing board may admit younger children if it is in their best interest (A.R.S. §15-821). source
Middle and high school sports
- School teams and eligibility rules are set by the state association — Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA)
- AIA requires a preparticipation physical exam record on file before practice or competition, given on or after March 1. source
- Teams usually pick players by tryout. Check sports, seasons and transfer rules with the school's coach and the state association.
Clubs and activities
Middle and high schools offer many clubs — band, orchestra and choir, robotics, debate, math and science competitions, service clubs. Each school lists its own on its Clubs or Activities page.
