When you move to Washington, you have 30 days to get a Washington driver license and register your vehicle, and you need the Washington license before you can register. Washington has a license reciprocity arrangement with Korea: if you are 18 or older with a valid Korean license, you can get a Washington license without the knowledge or drive test. Washington currently has no individual income tax. This page summarizes official guidance from the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL), the Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC), the Department of Revenue (DOR), the Attorney General's Office, the WA Cares Fund, Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (0404.go.kr) and the Korean Consulate General in Seattle. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

Once you become a New York resident, you must get a New York driver license within 30 days and register your vehicle in New York within 30 days. New York has no license reciprocity arrangement with Korea, so even with a Korean license you must pass the written test, take the 5-hour pre-licensing course and pass a road test. This page summarizes official guidance from the New York State DMV, the Department of Financial Services (DFS), the Department of Taxation and Finance, the New York State Attorney General, the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP), Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (0404.go.kr) and the Korean Consulate General in New York. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

When you move to Alabama, you may drive on your previous license for only 30 days after becoming a resident, and you must register your vehicle within 30 days of the day it enters the state. Korea and Alabama signed a driver license reciprocity memorandum in 2012. This page summarizes official guidance from Alabama state agencies (the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the Alabama Department of Insurance (ALDOI) and the Alabama Department of Revenue (ALDOR)) and the Korean Consulate General in Atlanta, whose jurisdiction includes Alabama. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

When you move to New Jersey, you must transfer your vehicle title and registration within 60 days, and you choose between two types of auto policy, Basic and Standard. Under the Korea–New Jersey reciprocity arrangement, an eligible Korean license can be exchanged for a New Jersey license without the knowledge and road tests. This page summarizes official guidance from New Jersey state agencies (MVC, the Department of Banking and Insurance, the Division of Taxation and the Department of Community Affairs) and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

When you move to Michigan, you are expected to get a Michigan driver's license and title and register your vehicle as soon as you become a resident; Michigan law has no grace period. Car insurance follows Michigan's own no-fault system, which works quite differently from other states. This page summarizes official guidance from Michigan state agencies (the Department of State / Secretary of State, the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS), and the Department of Treasury) and the Korean Consulate General in Chicago. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

When you move to California, you must get a California driver's license within **10 days** of becoming a resident and register your vehicle within **20 days** of becoming a resident or taking a job here. California does **not** have a driver license reciprocity agreement with Korea, so a Korean license cannot be exchanged without testing. This page summarizes official guidance from California state agencies (DMV, the Department of Insurance, the Franchise Tax Board) and Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Consulate General in Los Angeles. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

When you move to Georgia, you must get a Georgia driver's license within 30 days of becoming a resident and register your vehicle within 30 days of moving. This page summarizes official guidance from Georgia state agencies (DDS, the Insurance Commissioner's office, DOR) and the Korean Consulate General in Atlanta. Fees and document rules can change, so check the source links before you go.

Arizona has a driver license reciprocity agreement with South Korea. This page is based on Arizona statutes, the Arizona Department of Revenue, and Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Consulate General in Los Angeles. We could not open ADOT MVD's own pages for this guide, so confirm license and registration steps with MVD before you go.

In a J-1 intern or trainee program, the Form DS-2019 comes from a sponsor designated by the State Department — not from the company — and the U.S. host company must sign a training plan (Form DS-7002). Interns are current students or recent graduates (within 12 months) of a foreign post-secondary school; trainees need a foreign degree plus one year of related experience abroad, or five years of experience abroad. Federal rules cap internships at 12 months and training programs at 18 months.

An employment-based green card through a U.S. employer (EB-2 or EB-3) usually runs in three steps — the employer gets a PERM labor certification from the Department of Labor, files an immigrant petition (Form I-140) with USCIS, and once a visa number is available the worker applies through Form I-485 (adjustment of status in the U.S.) or consular processing. Your place in line is your priority date, and the State Department's monthly Visa Bulletin shows when you can move ahead.

The E-2 is a nonimmigrant visa for nationals of a treaty country who invest a substantial amount in a U.S. business and direct it, or who work for a same-nationality company as an executive, supervisor or essential employee. Korea is on the State Department's list of E-2 treaty countries. USCIS allows an initial stay of up to two years with unlimited two-year extensions, but every E-2 holder must keep an intention to leave the U.S.

Post-completion OPT gives F-1 graduates up to 12 months of work authorization in their field, and STEM graduates can add a 24-month STEM OPT extension if the employer uses E-Verify and signs a training plan. Your clock matters — OPT allows up to 90 days of unemployment, STEM OPT up to 150 in total — so plan your applications and timing early.

The H-1B lets a U.S. employer hire a foreign professional in a specialty occupation, but most new H-1Bs are limited by an annual cap of 85,000 and a registration lottery held each spring. Universities and certain nonprofit research employers are cap-exempt. The employer — not the worker — files, and rules and fees changed in 2025, so always check USCIS before you plan.

The federal minimum wage has been $7.25 an hour since July 24, 2009, and when a state minimum is higher you are entitled to the higher rate. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, non-exempt employees must get at least one and a half times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek, and exempt status depends on duties and pay — not job title. Some states, such as California, also require overtime after eight hours in a day.

In California, Colorado, Washington, New York, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington D.C., Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont and Massachusetts, many employers must include a good-faith pay range in job postings. Thresholds and details differ by state. JOBnaru™ flags postings in these states that show no range — a reminder, not a legal finding.

A real employer will not ask you to pay to get a job, deposit a check and send money back, buy equipment with your own money for reimbursement later, or give your Social Security number and bank details before a verified offer. JOBnaru™ never charges job seekers. If a job looks like a scam, stop, check the company yourself, and report it to us and to the FTC.

Employers post on JOBnaru™ for free for 30 days — no sign-up needed first. Every post gets an automatic check, and clean posts go live right away. Before the 30 days end, we email a one-tap button to keep it up 30 more days, free. To reach more people, you can buy labeled top placement — TOP ($299/30 days), Highlight ($199) or Logo listing ($49), each per 30 days. Write a clear post with a pay range and no discriminatory wording.
