Job Outlook for College Students: Pay, Growth and Education for 10 Jobs Korean-Company Plants and Offices Hire (BLS Data)
Figures are copied from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) (checked 2026-10-23). Since its August 27, 2026 update, the OOH shows 2025 median pay (May 2025) and 2025–35 projections.
Battery, semiconductor and auto plants and the U.S. offices of Korean companies hire steadily, from engineers to maintenance technicians. If you're picking a major or looking for a first job, look beyond pay: will the jobs grow, and what education do you need to start? All figures below are national.

Engineers and developers — start with a bachelor's degree
- Industrial engineers (12%) and mechanical engineers (11%) grow fastest among the engineers. They design and improve production lines, so demand follows new plants.
- Electrical and electronics engineers (8%) have a high median of $125,040, with lots of work in equipment, controls and power.
- Chemical engineers earn a high median ($125,040), but it's a small field (21,900 jobs in 2025) growing 5%. Battery and materials companies are major employers.
- Software developers are the largest group (about 1.9 million jobs) with the most new jobs (185,400).
Office careers — accounting and logistics
- Logisticians grow 18%, the fastest on this list. They manage parts sourcing, inventory and shipping, so both plants and offices hire them.
- Accountants and auditors grow 5%, with a median of $83,680. Korean can be an asset in closing and tax work between a Korean head office and its U.S. subsidiary.
Skilled trades — start after high school, learn on the job
- Industrial machinery mechanics and millwrights grow 14%, with a median of $64,100. They typically start with a high school diploma and learn on the job.
- Electricians: BLS says "Most electricians learn their trade in a 4- or 5-year apprenticeship program" and "Most states require electricians to pass a test and be licensed."
- Quality control inspectors earn a median $48,570 with 3% growth (as fast as average); BLS lists moderate-term on-the-job training.
Keep in mind
- BLS figures are national medians. Pay in your area or company can differ.
- Growth is a projection, not a promise; local demand depends on plant investment.
- International students should check that the job matches their degree field (ask the JOBnaru™ assistant about OPT, STEM OPT and H-1B).
